Britain To Get New Maritime Patrol Aircraft in £2billion Boost

The Sun has reported today that a “senior defence source” has told them that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) is to get a £2billion windfall to rebuild Britains maritime patrol capabilities, in particular, anti-submarine warfare. The deal which is likely to include aircraft such as the Boeing P8 Poseidon is designed to replace the capabilities lost when britain scrapped teh Nimrod MR2 patrol aircraft in 2011. Britain had intended to replace the ageing Nimrod MR2 aircraft with a newer Nimrod MR4 but this was scrapped in the Strategic Defence Review at a cost of around £789million. There has been an increase of incidents involving foreign submarines, in particular, russian submarines […]

Russia Renews Production of TU-160 Blackjack Nuclear Bomber

Russia’s Defense Ministry has confirmed that it is to renew production of the its long range strategic nuclear bomber the Tupolev TU-160 (NATO Codename BLACKJACK). The TU-160 first flew in 1981 and was believed to be Russia’s answer to the Rockwell B1-B Lancer and the type cerainly has many similarities, a trait often found with Soviet aircraft. It has recently started a major modernisation and upgrade programme and this new production run makes it the only Russian bomber still in production. Unlike the TU-95 (NATO: Bear) aircraft it was built solely for delivering nuclear payloads by method of cruise missile and the new types are likely to carry Russia new […]

Russian Chief of Staff Issues Stark Warning to NATO

The Kremlins Chief of Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, has issued a warning that “Moscow will defend itself in the face of NATO aggression” claiming that the NATO Excercise Joint Warrior is clearly aimed as a threat to Russia. Gerasimov claims that there has been a serious increase in NATO activity along Russia’s borders, which is of course true but in response to Russian aggression in the Ukraine and Russia’s increase in long range bomber flights across NATO countries. In further evidence that a new cold war is underway Gerasimov claims that Russia has found US spy satellites “masquerading as space junk” and that the US is developing high accuracy long […]

Russian Ships in English Channel to Conduct Exercises

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has confirmed that a Udaloy class Russian Destroyer, The Severomorsk, is currently in the English channel with two support ships and is being escorted by HMS Argyll, a Type 23 Frigate of the Royal Navy (RN). Whilst the Severomorsk is officially on its way to exercises in the North Atlantic, its passing through the channel at this time is likely to be no coincidence given that the NATO’s Joint Warrior Exercise is under way. Russia have claimed that the Severomorsk will undertake Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Submarine drills whilst in the channel in a desperate attempt to show Russia is not a fading power. Severomosk has just […]

Russia Tries to Spy on NATO Excersises in UK

The Royal Air Force (RAF) has been scrambled to intercept 2 Russian Air Force aircraft close to UK airspace. The aircraft, believed to be TU95 “Bear” types were intercepted by Eurofighter Typhoon Interceptors from RAF Lossiemouth. They later turned back and headed back up the norweigan coast towards Russia. It is no suprise that multiple aircraft have been seen in the area given that NATO Excercise Joint Warrior is under way across the UK which many naval aspects taking place off the coast of Scotland. In addition to the overhead monitoring, NATO has been forced to allow Russian military experts to attend Joint Warrior under a european arms treaty. “A […]

Defenceless and Weak – SNP, Plaid Cymru and Green Party’s Plans for Britain

On May 7th 2015 the UK goes to the polls to vote for its next government and the days of the traditional 2 horse race are long gone. With neither the Conservatives or Labour expected to achieve a majority the likelihood of another coalition is high. It also gives the opportunities for smaller parties to get in on the act. One thing that has raised its head once again as a result is Trident, Britains Nuclear Deterrent System. Trident II Launch Trident is an old system and needs upgrading and with east/west tensions rising by the day, that has never been more vital, yet The Scottish National Party (SNP), Plaid […]

NATO is Staring Down the Bear as Cold War II Heats Up

If you’re still in any doubt about the validity of Cold War II then recent rising tensions between NATO and Russia should dispel that. Its becoming accepted that Ukraine is now effectively the front line of this new freeze in east west relations with Russia arming rebel soldiers outside of their borders and send men and tanks to fight the Ukrainian Army. Whilst Angela Merkel and François Holland hold pseudo peace talks with Vladimir Putin the Kremlin has continued its party rhetoric of subterfuge and denial. The situation in Ukraine is about Russia wanting to control its borders and not wishing to have NATO any further on its own doorstep […]

Russian Bears Disrupt UK Civil Aviation

The Foreign Office has revealed that Russia’s Out of Area Operations using their TU-95H “Bear” long range bombers had caused disruption to UK civil flights on Wednesday 28th January 2015 with two of the aircraft coming “within 25 miles” of the UK. As usual they were promptly escorted away from UK airspace by RAF Typhoon Interceptors but it continues Russia’s growing effort to test UK Air Defenses and response by attempting to penetrate it’s sovereign airspace. Recently Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said the UK was concerned about the “extremely aggressive probing” of its airspace by Russian Bombers. The threat posed to civil aviation is increasing as the bombers do not […]

Putin ramps up NATO defences testing

Finnish air defences have reported “unusually intense” air activity by Russian Bombers and Fighters in the past few weeks as Russia continues to test NATO air defences. NATO believes that Russia is reacting to several Baltic states recently joining NATO and the crisis in the Ukraine which has pitched East versus West once again following Russia’s annexation of the Crimea, which is part of Ukraine. Tupolev-Tu-95 Bear Finland has reported that the air activity intensified on December 6th and has continued -“Most Russian packages have departed from bases within Russia’s mainland and headed towards the Russian exclave [sic] of Kaliningrad, to return via the same general routing. The packages have […]

Russian State Media posts bizarre MH17 fake image

In a bizarre twist in the story of the downing of Malaysian Flight 17 over Ukraine earlier this year Russian State-Controlled media channel Channel One TV posted an image that it claimed proved that a Ukrainian fighter had shot down the Boeing 777 over rebel controlled territory. The image which Channel One claims must have “come from an American or British spy satellite” appears to support the Kremlins preferred theory that MH17 was shot down by Ukrainians, to avoid the unfortunate truth that it was in all probability shot down by poorly trained rebels using Russian supplied equipment. There some problems with Channel One’s claims however. The image is a […]
