Russia ramps up the heat on NATO with Nuke deployment

Russia’s deployment of nuclear-capable missiles to its Kaliningrad exclave is setting off warning bells in the Baltics and at Nato. This is not the first time that the Russians have deployed Iskander-M short-range ballistic missiles to Kaliningrad and it will not be the last. Indeed, some experts believe Russia’s long-term plan is eventually to deploy the weapons permanently to the Russian enclave, sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania. The Iskander-M system is relatively modern and was introduced into the Russian military in 2006. It is highly mobile – a pair of missiles are carried on a heavy-wheeled launcher. The missile is known as the SS-26 and code-named “Stone” by Nato. It […]

North Korea detonates “Biggest” nuclear bomb yet

North Korea has detonated its biggest nuclear weapon to date on the communist states national day. The test was carried out at the Punggye-Ri test site in the north of the country and triggered a seismic event reaching 5.3 on the Richter scale. The test is believed to be part of the North’s program to miniaturize nuclear weapons in order to fit them onto ballistic missiles. North Korea is not currently believed to have been able to achieve that yet but Pyongyang has claimed it can produce  “at will, and as many as it wants, a variety of smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear warheads of higher strike power”. North Korea […]

North Korea Claims its Under Seige

In the latest rhetoric from Puppet Dictator Kim Jong Un, North Korea claims its under siege by US led hostile forces. According to the North Korean KCNA News Agency a spokesman for the National Defence Commission (NDC) said that the latest sanctions imposed over its rogue nuclear program were “anachronistic and suicidal” He went on to say the sanctions were the work of “the US and other hostile forces” who were intent on attacking North Korea “in a flock to swallow it up.” “The Leningrad blockade which struck terror into the hearts of people … and the Caribbean crisis in the Cold War era can hardly stand comparison with the […]

Pre-emptive nuclear strikes on the USA by North Korea

Have you finished laughing yet? This actually is the latest rhetoric from dictator Kim Jong-Un. North Korea announced it would carry out pre-emptive  nuclear strikes on the US and South Korea if it goes ahead with the annual War Games. Presumably they are going to borrow some nuclear missiles from somewhere in order to do this as North Korea has been unable to make a nuclear warhead small enough to fit on a missile yet. This kind of sabre rattling from Pyongyang happens every year at about this time and often include claims of nuclear strikes or invasions but it seems the US is safe for as long as Chris […]

A South Korean spokesman told the Yonhap news agency the projectiles were fired at about 10:00 local time (01:00 GMT) from Wonsan on the east coast stating “They were either rockets or guided missiles” The firing came shortly after the UN voted unanimously to introduce a raft of new sanctions against North Korea which is led by notorious dictator Kim Jong-Un. The new sanctions which are the toughest ever include: A ban on the export of coal, iron and iron ore used for North Korea’s nuclear […]

It’s still 3 minutes to midnight

In its warning to world leaders the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists have kept the doomsday clock at 3 minutes to midnight. The clock was wound forward last year stating “The probability of global catastrophe is very high, and the actions needed to reduce the risks of disaster must be taken very soon.” Whilst there has been improvement in some areas “That probability has not been reduced. The Clock ticks. Global danger looms. Wise leaders should act—immediately” The doomsday clock is a figurative clock designed to show in understandable terms how close the world is to disaster. It’s roots are in the cold war and nuclear weapons however in more recent […]

North Korea claims Hydrogen Bomb test

North Korea has today claimed the first successful test of a thermonuclear device. The announcement was made on State TV this morning. The news came after the US Geological Survey raised suspicions by detecting a magnitude 5.1 earthquake with an epicentre near Punggye-Ri, The site of North Korea’s previous nuclear weapons test. It will be some time however before it can be confirmed as to whether it was a Hydrogen bomb or another Fission device as previously tested by North Korea. We reported recently that North Korea had claimed it had developed a thermonuclear device which was met with scepticism around the world given the quantum leap in technology they […]

China Accuses US of Provocation Flights

China has started a rapid land reclamation project and is building military bases on the Islands which are not officially Chinese territory and are being disputed to multiple neighbouring countries. The military bases on the islands, which lay in the middle of South China Sea, are seen as attempts by Beijing to control passage around the South China Sea and provide a strategic staging post for military operations. Any attempt fly near of around the islands has been met with threats of military action from the Chinese […]

North Korea Has the Hydrogen Bomb

.. or so they claim. But do they really? The highly secretive dictatorship has made false claims before about its military might but with its desire for Nuclear Weapons could it actually be true that North Korea does indeed have the H-Bomb? The claim that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea [DPRK] (to give it its preferred name) made the claim via its State Media last Thursday seemingly in response to a highly respected UN Human Rights official saying that it is “essential” that the North Korea leadership be referred to the International Criminal Court for human rights offences. But we know they have nuclear weapons, why is everyone so […]
