Donald Trump wants to spark new Arms Race

During the Cold War, the Arms Race threatened the world with total destruction as both sides of the Iron Curtain raced to build as the biggest and baddest Nuclear Weapons, and as many as possible. The Arms Race was stopped by a series of Treaties designed to reduce and limit the number and type of missiles. Many of those treaties remain in force today and have kept nuclear weapons in check. But alarming rhetoric from Donald Trump recently has suggested that the US President wants to start a new arms race, with America as the top of the pile. Fresh from declaring that the US is going to pull out […]

Trump pulls out of INF Treaty claiming Russian violations

US President & Reality TV mogul Donald Trump has said that the United States of America is pulling out of the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with immediate effect. Trump also accused Russia of violating the treaty for years so the US would not let Russia “go out and do weapons we’re not allowed to”. Signed in 1987, the INF Treaty was designed to eliminate intermediate nuclear weapons, such as Cruise missiles, which could strike targets at very short notice. In the UK the treaty was responsible for getting rid of the Ground Launched Cruise Missiles (GLCM) based at RAF Greenham Common and RAF Molesworth ultimately leading to their closure. Russia […]

If Nuclear War broke out, how would you be notified today?

During the cold war a series of sirens at strategic locations around the UK would alert people that an attack was coming, later this was combined with broadcast messages including the infamous “Attack Warning Red – seek immediate shelter!” message. But know, with hundreds of TV channels and radio stations and the sirens gone, how would you be alerted today? It was a question we pondered so we asked the Government. In the event of a Nuclear Attack, the Cabinet Office told us that the plan would be to alert members of the public using “social and broadcast media” and telling them to “take shelter indoors with windows and doors […]

Two minutes to midnight

There is no doubt that current relations between East and West are the most strained they have been since the Cold War and this has been reflected by the Doomsday clock which has now been set at two minutes to midnight, the closest it has ever been to zero-hour. The symbolic clock, which is managed by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, was wound forward due to several factors including the threat of Nuclear war and ineffective response to climate change. Speaking about the Nuclear Weapons Threat The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists said “The risk that nuclear weapons may be used—intentionally or because of miscalculation—grew last year around the globe.” North […]

Fitness App Strava shows Corsham Computer Centre layout

Fitness App Strava hit the headlines yesterday due to its latest “heat map” which showed information from top secret bases around the world and now it seems it may have inadvertently disclosed the layout of Britains top-secret Corsham Computer Centre or CCC. Corsham Computer Centre is the hub for communicating with the Royal Navy’s fleet of nuclear submarines. Officially it processes data in support of the Royal Navy but many believe it is the place where launch codes would be sent from so understandably it’s inner sanctum is a heavily guarded secret. That is until staff who work there, ranging from IT Administrators through to high ranking Navy staff, accidentally shared the data […]

The Nuclear Charts – Who has the most nuclear weapons?

With North Korea once again destabilising world peace with the test of a missile-ready hydrogen bomb we look at Nuclear Weapons stockpiles to see who has what. Russia – 7000 Warheads, 1,950 Strategically operational. Russia is no surprise at No1 with the most warheads. Most of Russia’s weapons are designed for Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) and Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBM) with a small number of freefall weapons in existence. Russia does, however, appear to have designed a Nuclear Torpedo codenamed Status 6. Known as a “salted bomb” its 100 megaton warhead is designed to create tsunamis up to 500 metres tall and spread deadly Cobalt-60 over a wide area […]

North Korea tests “missile size” hydrogen bomb

North Korea has tested a hydrogen bomb that it says can fit onto a missile drawing worldwide condemnation. The test, which was carried out today, generated seismic events 10 times stronger than any previous test. It was carried out at the Punggye-Ri test site in the North Korea. Just before the test, North Korean state media issued images of dictator Kim Jong-un next to what appears to be a missile ready thermonuclear device although it is understood that it is likely to be a model given the “Supreme Leaders” proximity to the device. This test could give the clearest indications yet of North Korean capability thanks to what appears to be […]

Has North Korea just become Trumps Cuban Missile Crisis?

The rhetoric in what has become known as the North Korea Crisis has just been upped with US President Donald Trump declaring that he will unleash “fire and fury the like of which the world has never seen”. This escalation of words came as it emerged, according to US intelligence, that North Korea has achieved its aim of making a nuclear warhead small enough to mount on its ballistic missiles. It is beyond doubt that Kim Jong-Un, like his father Kim Jong-Il, has pushed for nuclear ability and has perhaps caught many off-guard with the speed of its development. It’s hardly surprising though. North Korea’s “enemy” America has a habit of […]

Sanctions & Syria fuel Cold War 2.0

US Sanctions against Russia are fuelling a Cold War 2.0 and causing Vladimir Putin to say that retaliation would have to come “at some point”. Speaking in Finland, The Russian President said that the sanctions were “absolutely illegal from the point of view of international law”. The new sanctions are on a bill currently being looked at by US Lawmakers and if passed, it would allow the US to sanction any company involved in Russia’s energy export pipelines. This is seen as a threat to the constructions of a natural gas pipeline between Russia and Germany prompting European Union chief executive Jean-Claude Juncker to warn against passing the bill. on Wednesday, […]

Flying A loses another planning attempt to ruin Greenham GAMA site

Flying A Services Ltd has lost another planning application for the GAMA site at Greenham Common and its hardened cruise missile bunkers. The shadowy company run by Monaco resident Phillipe Delis and David Prater had planned to build a new facade on the iconic bunkers effectively destroying the whole look of the site. Previously, Delis & Prater had told West Berkshire Planning officers that the site had been in continued use for over 10 years in an attempt to circumvent planning laws, even getting a Thames Valley Police Officer to testify to that fact, however, thanks to this site and other concerned people who had visited the site over the […]
